About Our Class
Advanced ELA 8 is a required class for moving on to high school, and it is taught as a pre-high school, college preparatory class. We will be reading novels, short stories, plays, and poetry, and we will be writing short stories, argumentative essays, personal essays, and much, much more.
Every class will start with Ms. H reciting a poem for the students to copy down and then analyze. We will use these poems as a place to work on grammar, vocabulary, and close reading practice. After analysis, the students will write either a Type 1 or Type 2 reaction to the poem.
