We will be starting our unit on The Giver, focusing on our theme of utopia. This week, students will be doing a group project (brochure and presentation) as well as homework of language review and reading.

We will be continuing our focus on The Giver this week and starting to get into the meat of the novel. Also, our My Michigan Hero Type 3 essay is due Friday along with the Language Review sheet and our vocabulary quiz. The vocabulary list for the quiz is as follows: Chortled, Disquieting, Prodded, Indulgently, Infringed, Gravitate, Buoyancy, Meticulously, Aptitude, Wielded
Lesson Plans for Week 9
We won't have a vocabulary quiz this week since we have a short week and a project due. We will work on preparing for our Type 3 essays this week by putting together padlets on Padlet.com that we all can see. This is a group project, and will be graded as such (individual grades for collaboration and effort).

When students present their padlet projects on Monday, they will put the links on the correct page, but all students will have access to all padlets for their Type 3 Argumentative Essay.

Since many will be gone, we will take the time to review another dystopian piece, Wall-E, and take notes on what makes it a dystopian film. After break, we will start Lord of the Flies.
